After working as a music supervisor for fifteen years, Jemma Burns founded Pulse Points; a music company designed to service all music related needs for film and television production.
Jemma regularly works with some of the world’s most renowned production companies such as See-Saw Films (on numerous productions including Oscar Nominated Lion and Jane Campion’s Top of the Lake: China Girl), Plan B Entertainment (Bong Joon Ho’s Okja and multiple David Michôd films); A24 (Beau is Afraid and Wizards!).
What really excites the team at Pulse Points is creative input and collaboration; the development of a ‘sound’ for a production, the selection of composers, and investigating the world of music specific to the story. With that palette, we then suggest songs that will help convey the narrative in the most compelling way. Of course this also entails negotiating fees, securing rights, managing budgets and the licensing process.
Where relevant, we also love commissioning original songs and score composition from our musical family. Our diverse collective extends around the globe, and includes both established composers and exciting new voices. These relationships enable us to facilitate and oversee composition and production, as well as re-recording covers and songs required for on-screen performances.
Another student of film (and journalism), Jemma approached Charlie during the darkest days of Melbourne's Covid lockdown after noticing they shared an uncannily similar creative sensibility.
One of Charlie's first projects was assisting Jemma on Heartbreak High, where he was able to flex his expertise in contemporary music culture and was pivotal to shaping the show’s sound. He’s currently deep in Season 2, which we couldn’t be more excited about!
Now, a few years down the line, Charlie has worked closely alongside Jemma on numerous productions including the upcoming Wizards! (A24 / Plan B / See-Saw), Alena Lodkina's magical realist film Petrol, Love Me S2 (Warner Bros) and Boy Swallows Universe (Netflix).
In addition to his music supervision work, Charlie has been putting his interviewing chops to good use on a weekly music show for Melbourne's iconic 3RRR FM where he's interviewed the likes of Lucrecia Dalt, Toro y Moi and Alex G. He also worked with celebrated indie label Chapter Music for several years.

After studying film in London, Jemma broke into the industry on cult series Summer Heights High and has now worked on over 100 productions. She enjoys working closely with directors to craft the soundtrack to their films, whether that be through the use of score, licensed music or commissioning songs. As well as having a great ear for emotional tonality of music, she also loves pairing the right composer with the right director, knowing how pivotal that relationship is.
Recent film productions include The Royal Hotel from director Kitty Green and Ari Aster's Beau is Afraid. In TV: the Emmy award winning series Heartbreak High and the adaptation of the much loved Boy Swallows Universe (both Netflix Originals). She is excited to see David Michod’s stoner comedy Wizards! and the beguiling sci-fi Love Me (Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun) released into the world In 2024!
